Where is the vin number for a 1971 XKE? I found a number on the inside of the drivers door. Is that it?

Hi Robin, here's a response I got from another member. Hope it helps!

"Not sure, but doubt it would be on a door. If memory serves me correctly, there should be a plate riveted to the top of the sill inside the door(? maybe the sill under the bonnet), further, I believe the VIN was stamped on the upper crossmember of the front subframe - lack of which was supposed to indicate that the car had been involved in some front end damage (dont remember ever looking for it on mine so it may be a bit of an "urban legend". Can't guarantee this info - last had an E Type 35 years ago! STILL MISS IT!"

On my 70 Ser II OTS --on the "picture frame" above the passenger side
shock absorber-----should be the same on yours
